Shraddha Kapoor (born March 3, 1989) is an Indian film actress who appears inBollywood films. She has starred in films such as Teen Patti (2010), Luv Ka The End(2011) and Aashiqui 2 (2013).

Kapoor was born on March 3, 1989 in Mumbai to actor Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kapoor. She is the niece of actress Padmini Kolhapure[2] Her older brother Siddhanth is a former Disc Jockey and an assistant director [3], who made his film debut with Shootout at Wadala.[4]
She did her schooling at Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu, Mumbai and then enrolled atBoston University, taking up theatre studies. She quit during her freshman year in order to pursue acting.[5]

Kapoor made her acting debut in 2010 with the film Teen Patti alongside Amitabh BachchanR. Madhavan, and Raima Sen.[6] The film tanked at the box office, and her performance went partially unnoticed. For her role as college rockstar Aparna, she had workshops with Royston Abel, Ashley Lobo andBarry John.[7] Shraddha described her character as "a studious girl and is also a guitarist in her college’s music band" and "a very intriguing person."[8]
In 2011, she signed a three-movie contract with Yash Raj Films.[9] However, the contract has been cancelled due to Kapoor signingMahesh Bhatt's Aashiqui 2.[10] She starred in Y-Films's venture, Luv Ka The End alongside newcomer Taaha Shah. Of her role, Kapoor remarked, "I play the character of Rhea Dialdas who is feminine, quirky but at the same time determined. When she learns that her boyfriend is cheating on her, initially she is heartbroken and shattered. But she gets over the rona-dhona and picks up the baseball bat to get even with him."[11] Despite the film's poor performance at the box office, Kapoor's performance attracted generally positive reviews. Rachana of Glamsham Editorial wrote, "Shraddha Kapoor clearly steals the show and it's her performance which lights up the film. She is the star of the film."[12] Kapoor was aslo awarded Stardust Searchlight Award For Best Actress for the film.[13]
In 2013, Kapoor starred in Aashiqui 2, a romantic musical drama film opposite Aditya Roy Kapur. Her character in the film, Arohi Shirke, is a small-town bar singer who later becomes a successful playback artiste. The film received a mixed critical reception, as did Kapoor's performance. Anupama Chopra calls her the "real triumph" and said that she is "very good as the woman in the throes of a grand passion who believes that love will show the way"[14] The Times Of India's Madhureeta Mukherjee adds, saying that Kapoor lets "her emotions play out brilliantly in high-strung scenes with supreme confidence".[15] Conversely, Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Expressstated that Kapoor "does a tad better than her earlier outings, but is patchy".[16] The film went on to became a major box-office success attaining a blockbuster status. [17]
Kapoor will feature in the upcoming Gori Tere Pyaar Mein which is directed by Punit Malhotra.[18]
